How I Got Here

I come from a family of engineers, scientists, and farmers. We have always built things together. Just months before completing his first spec home, my brother Stephen was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 29. Stephen's illness united us in supporting him live his best life. We dedicated ourselves to building institutions, platforms, and tools to improve how we understand and treat disease.
Stephen's grace and humor in the face of ALS and his thoughtful willingness to experiment and share his experience guide my approach to science and medicine. I am devoted to measuring and understanding human health and empowering individuals with the tools to understand and improve their health, disease, and aging.
